£460,000 fine
#11
We had an activation the other night in a big five level care home/managed/sheltered accommodation building. One night staff on call looked at panel, saw zone 5, went to flat 5, declared it safe and silenced the system. On call out the next day, she didn't call us out there and then, it was zone 5 on another floor!
The detector was faulty thankfully and all was ok, but, if that had been a fire I dread to think!
I now, rightly or wrongly, try to make each flat a zone corresponding to its flat number, less ambiguity for staff I think.
No matter how clever our fire alarms and cause and effect is, it takes one poorly/untrained member of staff to foul it all up!
Bugger, I did isolate the dialer...didn't I?
