Old minimax extinguisher (1932)
#1
Certainly not for use on a clients site of course, but I have a Minimax cone shaped extinguisher dated 1932 going to give a clean up.

In cracking it open the lining is like fibrous, is this likely to be an asbestos lining as its pre use of polythene?

Any old info sheets, or anything on it would be nice as want to clean it up and keep onto it :)

I have the refill sheet and full range brochure from the time period, I've got scans on my desktop, I'll add them next chance I get.

Before Polythene linings extinguishers were usually steel with lead lining or solid copper, with some steel with zinc lining.

The linings reacted with the water over time and would often generate zinc or lead salts that would eventually wear away until the steel was exposed at which point the extinguisher would need replacing.
