Bs5839-6 and updates

Hi guys


What are your opinions on Zone charts and log books for Buildings that come under part 6 of bs5839

I know that a "zone chart/Diagram" is a requirement and logbook under RRO should be kept and filled out by engineer /RP and kept up to date.



HMOs communal areas of flats and such like? and who would be the RP? the landlord or building management company as i wouldn't expect many tenants to accept this responsibility.

I'm used to dealing with buildings under part 1 but ive visited a few of site of which they don't have a zone chart or logbook on site which is required?

Some of these sites with have 2 systems installed in the communal area and then within the tenants dwellings/flats.

So for testing  is required monthly on anything less than Grade A and if tenants are not testing then by bs5839 a service company should be?

I always treat Grade A systems the same at most of Part 1 systems - zone drawings , as fitted , log book etc. Mine have been very large Dwellings.

Mixed systems - in my experience

Communal - Part 1 system - service company    Dwellings - part 6 LD3/4 etc - dwelling owners or Landlords
