Hello
I have an old Chloride Gent 85 Mk11 fire alarm unit that has developed a fault and I need to relace the panel, it is a 2 wire system for smoke and call points and seperate 2 wires for the bells. I need to add more smoke detectors to the system is there a panel that would replace like for like or is it a question of replacing the whole system? Regards Keith |

RE: Chloride Gent 85 Mk11 fire alarm unit
asking this means u know nothing about fire systems, so i don't think you should be changing it.
any conventional 2 zone fire panel will do, connect bells into bell/sounder output put eol at last bell if 24v. same with mcp's connect to zone 1, eol at last device, if the mcp are old might not have 470ohm resistor in them, that case need to fit one at each device in series on any leg. |

RE: Chloride Gent 85 Mk11 fire alarm unit
Another point is that most of these panels also used AC detectors along with the zone EOL being a diode, that will not work on any other panels.
There were also limitations on the quantity of detectors that could be installed although the units could be interconnected to give larger coverage. The only recommendation would be to replace ALL the component parts of the system including call points with new. |

RE: Chloride Gent 85 Mk11 fire alarm unit
what kind of fault has it developed? is it definitely inside the panel and not out on the field wiring?
