Makes you wonder whether the "enforcing authority" will ever prosecute one of their own if they cock up.

Nottinghamshire's service department is one of the few that actually was properly set up and did the job properly even when just an internal department only servicing local authority & community premises and went though BAFE long before general trading was thought of.

Others I have known were rag & tag merchants of the worst kind....

just to add to this list
Shropshire Fire Service is setting up a company to maintain Fire and Emergency Lighting systems and provide and Test and Inspection Service.

and I'm told that Wiltshire will be next

as the fire service are now not attending calls from monitored systems I'm thinking that there could be a market for a private fire service.
I mean how hard could it be just turn up and spray water everywhere :)
got to easier than installing fire alarms

The sad thing is people automatically think the FB know all about FD&A systems because they are firemen so it could get them work on that way of thinking.

Just like the dated thought of get a big national as you get better service.

Yeah its sad that. The amount of times i go to a site and tell the staff "X is wrong and needs changing" And they say to me "oh its ok, the fire brigade told me it was fine". Ive had a few that have said that and in a polite way i have said hlf the time the FB dont know what they are on about and ive been told of course they do, they are the fire brigade! Errr ok then!

I've lost count of times attending a site to be told by the client, "the fire officer recommended a smoke detector in our plant room"

Ok, tell me what category of system he recommended, and I'll design a system for you... "no, he just said one detector"
